Green fuel contributes 7% of grid power capacity

The contribution of green fuel has crossed 7% in the country�s grid power capacity in 2006. �The renewable sources of power such as wind and small hydro power projects have contributed 7.5% of the countries grid power capacity in 2006,� according to a ministry report. Grid-connected power generation capacity through renewable sources was 9100 mw in 2006, of which wind alone contributed to about 6,070 mw, says the report. India has maintained its fourth position in the world after Germany, Spain and USA in wind power installation capacity.
